| Okmulgee County farmer-rancher Steve Kouplen was elected to
lead Oklahoma Farm Bureau as the President November 14th, 1999 at the organization's
annual convention. Kouplen has been a member of Oklahoma Farm Bureau's Board of
Directors for nine years, serving as President, two terms as Secretary and one each as
Vice-President and Treasurer. Kouplen, a lifetime resident of Beggs, Oklahoma has a commercial Hereford cow-calf operation. In addition to his cow herd, he also has a small grains operation consisting of wheat, milo and alfalfa. Kouplen is a graduate of Oklahoma State University, where he earned a Bachelor and Master degrees in agricultural education. Kouplen was active in FFA, winning both the Northeast District Star Farmer of Oklahoma and the American Farmer Degrees. In addition to his long-time service to the State's largest farm organization, Kouplen has served on the boards of the East Central Electric Cooperative, Beggs School District, Okmulgee County Fair Board and served as Chairman for the Oklahoma Beef Industry Council. He also is a past member of the local FSA Committee and the Okmulgee County Rural Water District #6, and is currently a member of the Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association and the American Hereford Association. In addition, he serves on the American Farm Bureau Federation Board of Directors. Oklahoma Farm Bureau is a voluntary agricultural organization. More than 151,000 families in the state belong to Farm Bureau. |
